THE "CHICKEN-EGG" CONTROVERSY
For the past 1000 years people have argued which came first,
the chicken or the egg. There are several theories and even
today it remains a mystery. This dilemma sometimes reminds
me of the question so many raise when they are moving - "When
do I purchase property - before or after I sell my house?"
The answer to this difficult question will vary, depending on
individual circumstances. A driving force is when you find an
unusual piece of property. When I have been asked this
question, I have always said, "When you find the property you
really like which is in your price range, buy it!" This is
why so many people land-bank property. Another reason is to
buy property for future needs and take advantage of today's
prices. It is a proven fact that like properties in desirable
neighborhoods continue to appreciate and increase in value.
If you are considering moving and have decided to build your
next home, a logical step is to buy the property when you find
it even though you have not sold your home. If there is a
cash-flow problem, financing the lot can be easily obtained.
By taking such an action, you lock in your base price on the
land. You are then in a position to start planning and
developing a financial budget for your new home. This process
sometimes take up to 6 months. By making your purchase in
advance, you can actually shorten your building time from a
year to 6 or 7 months by completing your planning in
advance.
HOLLOW CREEK AT THE RESERVE
The western edge of the fourth and final phase of Woodside
Plantation is now being approved by the Aiken City Council.
The concept plan and annexation for Hollow Creek at The
Reserve, a 66l.5 acre development, will include a new Fuzzy
Zoeller-Clyde Johnston golf course. This area will include up
to 1045 new homes, including 16 equestrian lots and 89 estate
lots as well as 289 acres of open space. The property plan
includes near its center a nature preserve between 150 and 200
acres.
The latest phase of Woodside will be adjacent to another
equestrian community. There is currently an effort to
create an extended network of trails between these
properties. If this is accomplished , it would be fantastic
because it would provide people in the area miles of riding
trails as well as hiking and walking trails for Woodside
property owners.
AIKEN AREA AGAIN WINS NATIONAL ATTENTION

the south for the 4th time since 2002. According to the
magazine, USC Aiken is the "best public comprehensive college
in the south".
